The Summit/Akron Solid Waste Management Authority provides funding in the form of Community Recycling Access Grants to implement and support new and existing residential recycling programs within Summit County communities.  Funded programs must assist the Authority in meeting the goals and objectives of the State of Ohio's Solid Waste Management Plan and the Authority's approved Plan.

The 2008 Community Recycling Access Grant program provides financial assistance to Summit County communities that meet the following criteria:

• The community is located within the boundaries of Summit County
• Communities with a population of 20,000 or greater must have 100% recycling access (non-subscription curbside recycling or equivalent community-sponsored recycling drop-offs)
• Communities under 20,000 in population with a recycling program
• Communities with Authority-run drop-offs will not receive grant funding.
